Princess Postcards

I recently designed some Disney Inspired dress designs that I tried to sell as originals. Unfortunately selling original work normally goes outside of people's price range so therefore I wanted to create the designs in a way that could be purchased by anyone of any age. The easier option and cheapest option, is postcards. They're a perfect size that they still hold detail and are great for younger children to send to their friends or perhaps collect.

I currently have four designs; Elsa, Belle, Rapunzel and Aurora but do plan on creating more depending on success.

Artists I Like #11

I have been trying to find some large scale prints similar to my buildings, so A2, and seeing how artists present them. I was trying to find some simple image searches on Google by searching "A2 fine art prints" when I saw some limited edition fashion prints. They caught my eye immediately because of the content being Disney, anyone who knows me knows I love Disney. Not only were these Disney prints but they were beautifully hand drawn fashion sketches. I've always loved fashion sketches, although I'm not particularly interested in fashion, the sketches themselves are always beautiful and creative drawings.

On top of them being drawn, coloured and styled so well they are also photographed in a setting that matched. The artist is Kelly Smith and she does even more wonderful fashion sketches beside just these prints! Sometimes you find inspiration even when you aren't looking for it.

Artists I like #5

On my trip to Disney World I found an Illustration I instantly loved.

The artist is Jerrod Maruyama. All his work is cute and mostly Disney related. He works as a freelance Illustrator and graduated San Jose State university with a degree in Illustration. I'd love to one day produce work that would be sold by Disney.

Artists I like #3

DeviantArt again, I had been shown these images previously didn't take note. Murph3 takes screen caps from Disney movies and paints over the top of them. Although the picture I actually saw was done by Cryptid-Creations. He did an inspired one but remembered I'd seen previous ones by Murph3 before.

Cryptid's version.

My Collections - Professional Practice

So a side project that runs through the year is "Professional Practice", looking into possible careers, artists, exhibitions and all things arty that will develop our professional skills. One assignment was to look at eh V&A collection and then create our own collection. I thought I'd do a doodle of me, in my room, surrounded by my collection. The collection is supposed to be able to identify us as a person. I'm sure mine does.

First monoprint - Identity through print

I had my first ever University workshop. Woohoo! Our project at the moment is looking into our own personal identity. We are using methods of print to help us discover more about ourselves. The first workshop was Monoprint, something I have previous experience with; I wasn't too delighted at the idea. I thought that after my college days that it would be a drag but I used some letter stamps along with the monoprints and actually enjoyed it a lot more than before. I liked mixing the media of stamps and illustrations together. We were only supplied with black and I felt a little restricted by the colour; although colour shouldn't make a difference I am use to doing much more colourful prints. So seeing as I love food, it was the main inspiration as well as Disney!

The 'mmmmm' was actually created with the letter N because I couldn't find an actual M. I just double up two nns to make a lovely m :)
